Description
Florence Knoll's profound impact on Mid-Century design is evident in every piece of furniture that bears her name, including this famed Florence Knoll Coffee Table. As a trailblazer in commercial interior design, Knoll founded the "Planning Unit" that serviced illustrious clients such as IBM and CBS, all while revolutionizing the modern American workspace.
During her tenure, Knoll often encountered spaces that lacked suitable furnishings, prompting her to design them herself. This initiative led to the creation of the iconic furniture collection we are familiar with today, renowned for its timeless aesthetic and functional elegance. Among these creations are her Sofas, Lounge Chairs, and Tables, which continue to adorn both homes and offices, always epitomizing the essence of modernism.
This particular Florence Knoll Coffee Table features its original Calacatta marble top, a luxurious stone prized for its rich, warm golden veining. To honor and preserve the integrity of the piece, we had the marble professionally polished—restoring it to its original factory finish, or perhaps even better. The top is supported by a polished chrome steel frame, a hallmark of Knoll’s aesthetic, offering both strength and style. While the frame does exhibit some wear consistent with age—including a patch of corrosion on the underside—this area is fully concealed beneath the marble and not visible during use. We’ve meticulously polished the frame and treated the affected area; detailed photos are available upon request. The table has been priced with this in mind, and we are happy to offer re-chroming services if desired. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, we’re glad to provide any additional information you may need. -
