Description
A professionally refinished classic nine drawer Honduran mahogany desk with a separate typewriter table designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for his Taliesin line of furniture manufactured by Heritage Henredon of Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1955.
This desk and the typewriter table slide apart to create a cool work station.
The typewriter table is the right scale for use with your laptop or other internet devices and when you are done easily slides into the kneehole of the desk for compact storage.
This rare Frank Lloyd Wright design also may serve as a sofa table / bedside table, and features a simplistic design with signature greek-key edge detailing and is light weight and easy to relocate.
This is the only line of furniture that bears his signature and a red chop mark.
The Taliesin line was only in production for two years, 1955/1956.
Due to its design which leans more to his Arts and Crafts work and not his more contemporary Usonian designs the furniture did not find as broad an audience as it might have in the mid-1950s in comparison to Herman Miller, Knoll, Brown- Saltman, Widdicomb, Baker etc.
This accounts for its relative rarity and being signed makes it quite desirable and collectible today.Excellent restored condition. Some light signs of age still apparent. Beautiful and ready to use (and love) immediately.
The desk and typewriter table are in very good condition.
The pricing guide from 1stdibs does not apply to this seldom found desk.
