Designed by Gae Aulenti in 1965 for Knoll International, the “Jumbo” coffee table is one of those pieces that feels instantly architectural-pure geometry, heavy material, no decoration needed. This example is executed in White Carrara marble, with a thick square top resting on four cylindrical “cluster” legs at the corners. It’s minimal in concept, but visually rich because the stone does all the work: soft white ground, smoky grey veining, and that unmistakable depth you only get from real Carrara.
Carrara marble has been quarried in Italy for centuries and has been valued since antiquity for its clarity and strength. Here, it gives the table a quiet authority: the form is simple, but the presence is serious. The proportions make it a true centerpiece—low, sculptural, and grounded—equally at home in a Mid-Century Modern interior, a clean contemporary space, or a more eclectic postmodern setting where you want one bold “anchor” object. - More Information
