Description
This very rare set of four solid oak side tables was designed by Guillerme et Chambron and produced by their atelier Votre Maison in Northern France in the 1950s. Each table is topped with its original hand-glazed ceramic tiles by the artist Boleslaw Danikowski.
Each piece features a square oak top with subtly rounded edges, supported by interlocking cross-braced legs that form an elegant X-shaped structure. This sculptural base, both expressive and sturdy, is one of the signatures of Guillerme et Chambron’s craftsmanship and gives each table a distinctive architectural presence.
The four tables function beautifully as individual side tables, yet can also be arranged together to form a single harmonious coffee table. The set retains the original central connecting square that secures the tables when grouped, a component that is often missing, which makes this ensemble exceptionally complete and rare.
A superb example of the collaboration between Guillerme et Chambron and Boleslaw Danikowski, combining masterful oak joinery with striking ceramic artistry.
Each table measures 41 × 41 cm and 44 cm high (approximately 16.1 × 16.1 in and 17.3 in high). When arranged together as a coffee table, the full set measures 82 × 82 cm and 44 cm high (approximately 32.3 × 32.3 in and 17.3 in high).
The set is in good original condition, and the solid oak has developed a beautiful, even warm patina. Minor wear consistent with age and use. Two of the ceramic tiles show an older restoration, which is not visually distracting once the tiles are installed. The tiles sit loosely within the oak frames and can be easily removed or replaced should different tiles be preferred. -
