Description
This rare side or drinks table was designed by Gunnar Ander and produced by Ystad Metall in Sweden during the 1950s. The striking design features a slender black-painted metal stem, a polished brass tray top with integrated handle, and a solid black fossil stone base in an octagonal form. The loop handle is both decorative and functional, allowing the table to be easily lifted and repositioned. Compact in scale, the piece works perfectly as a side table, drinks table, or smoking table.
The table is in very good condition, the brass has been polished and is with a minimal patina consistent with age and use
Gunnar Ander (1908–1976) was a Swedish architect and designer known for his work in lighting, furniture, and decorative arts. He collaborated extensively with Ystad Metall, a prominent Swedish metalworks company, where he designed a range of objects that paired utility with stylistic flair. This side table exemplifies his skill in harmonizing sculptural form and utilitarian function. -
