Description
A quiet presence defines this table, where proportion and movement meet in a restrained yet expressive composition. The design reflects a period in which Italian makers refined organic forms into functional sculpture.
Design
The round top presents a warm radial walnut veneer, arranged to emphasise the centre and guide the eye outward. Its edge is softly bevelled, giving a light visual profile despite the generous diameter. The table is covered with a glass top to protect the wood.
Beneath, the sculptural base draws immediate attention. Multiple tapered legs emerge from a central carved node, each slightly curved and faceted, creating a sense of rhythm when viewed from different angles. This construction recalls the biomorphic language associated with mid-century Italian design, where structure and ornament merge. The open sections within the base reduce visual weight while maintaining stability, a solution often seen in the work attributed to Ico Parisi, who favoured elegant engineering paired with fluid silhouettes. In a dining setting, the table accommodates seating with ease, and its circular form encourages conversation and balance within the room.
A refined piece that stands between architecture and furniture, offering presence without excess. The interplay between the top and base gives it a sculptural quality that changes subtly with light and viewpoint.
Condition
The condition is very good, with minor signs of use consistent with age. The surface shows light wear, and the structure remains sound.
We also have the dining chairs available that were matching the table. -
