Signed Isabelle Faure sculpture-table amethyst 1970s
-
Description
The creative design of this coffee table by Isabelle Faure is breathtaking. Tangled in a web of heavy brass “branches” is a monstrous amethyst geode, lit from the inside. This sculpture forms the base for a thick slab of transparent glass, a choice that allows the depth of the base’s design to be the focal point and the glass surface merely a functional element. Entering a room, you’d notice first the organic-looking bronze base, the branches crawling underneath the glass to support it. However, up close, especially viewing from above, the impact of the oversized geode is impressive, as you peer into a cavernous mouth of jagged geode crystals in shades of translucent purple. Though the golden and purple colors and rich textures are reminiscent of the piece’s Hollywood Regency style, this coffee table is definitively unique, imbued with Faure’s signature flair.
