Remarkable, early 20th century Art Nouveau "Fledermaus" coffee table/ side table, designed around 1906 by none other than the famous Austrian architect and founder of the renowed "Wiener Werkstaette" : Josef Hoffmann - for the company of Jacob & Josef Kohn. This iconic design was built by both "giants" of bentwood furniture at this time - Thonet & J&J Kohn - and became world renowned as part of the inventory for the famous cabaret/ coffeehouse "Fledermaus" in Vienna/ Austria. This fantastic round Art Nouveau table was made of fine beechwood, typical for Kohn furniture, and trimmed to a very dark mahogany/ brown tone with a beautiful hand-polished shellac finish. This early 20th century side table comes in perfect restored condition. As you may see a lot of faked copies on the market, especially of this model, this masterpiece is an absolute original showing the wellknown paper mark of "JACOB & JOSEF KOHN" under the tables top. A real timeless piece of Viennese secession furniture by Josef Hoffmann for the company of J&J Kohn Vienna.
