Description
Elegant French Art Deco round coffee table by Jules Leleu, circa 1930s. Crafted in richly figured walnut, the generous circular top is beautifully book‑matched to create a dynamic, swirling grain pattern. The top rests on an architectural open base composed of curved walnut panels and cylindrical uprights, all raised on a circular plinth that echoes the form of the top and gives the piece great visual balance. The warm, hand‑rubbed finish enhances the depth and movement of the walnut while preserving the refined, understated lines characteristic of Leleu’s work. A sophisticated centerpiece for a living room or library, ideal between a pair of armchairs or as a low center table in an Art Deco or contemporary interior
Jules Leleu was a french furniture designer and interior decorator who was born in 1883 and died in 1961. He was known for his innovative use of materials and his ability to combine traditional and modern design elements. Leleu studied at the École Boulle in Paris where he learned the art of cabinetmaking, before opening his own studio in 1910. He quickly gained a reputation for his unique designs, which featured clean lines and geometric shapes. In the 1920s and 1930s, Leleu became one of the leading figures of the Art Deco movement in France. He continued to work through out his life, and his designs can be found in many museums and private collections today. - More Information
