Rare Maison Jansen Tripartite Brass and Carrara Marble Coffee Table, circa 1940

An exceptionally rare and beautifully conceived Maison Jansen tripartite coffee table, France, circa 1940. This elegant model exemplifies the refined glamour and superb metalwork for which the legendary Parisian decorating house is celebrated.
The table is composed of three individual sections, creating a long, architectural silhouette with softly rounded ends. Each section is framed in finely worked brass with a delicate reticulated gallery, supported by slender fluted legs joined by graceful curved cross-stretchers. The inset tops are fashioned from beautifully figured Carrara marble, lending a cool, luminous contrast to the warmth of the brass.
The combination of classical detailing, restrained ornament and beautifully balanced proportions gives the piece an effortless sophistication. It is equally striking in a traditional interior or juxtaposed with contemporary upholstery, sculpture and art.
The brass has been completely and painstakingly professionally repolished, returning the metal as closely as possible to the pristine appearance it would have presented when fabricated circa 1940. Following polishing, a clear protective lacquer was professionally applied to help preserve the finish and inhibit future oxidation.
A particularly rare Maison Jansen model with exceptional scale, presence and versatility. The three-part construction also allows the sections to be arranged together as one dramatic cocktail table or used independently when desired.
