Description
An exceptional and highly sought-after French Maison Baguès tripartite coffee table, executed in richly patinated bronze doré and dating to the 1960s. This rare modular form features a central rectangular table flanked by two demi-lune consoles, allowing the composition to be displayed together as an elegant elongated cocktail table or separated for versatile use within an interior.
The design exemplifies Maison Baguès’ refined interpretation of the French neoclassical tradition. The delicately cast apron is ornamented with a repeating ribbon-and-laurel motif, lending the table a restrained architectural elegance while highlighting the maison’s celebrated bronze craftsmanship. The slender, tapering fluted legs terminate with finely detailed collars and classical capitals, evoking the graceful proportions of Louis XVI furniture and reinforcing the table’s sophisticated neoclassical silhouette.
The original églomisé mirrored tops display a beautifully aged, lightly foxed surface that adds depth, luminosity, and authentic vintage character. The contrast between the softly distressed mirror glass and the warm gilded bronze creates an elegant balance of glamour and restraint characteristic of the finest Maison Baguès productions of the period.
Rarely encountered in this complete tripartite form, this model is exceptionally difficult to source, particularly with its original mirrored surfaces and all three sections intact. A striking statement piece equally suited to classical, modern, or Hollywood Regency interiors. -
