Description
PAIR OF FAUX MARBLE PAINTED PINE COLUMNS IN ORIGINAL PAINT
Probably English, circa first quarter of the 20th century
Item # 403DWS18A
A great pair of substantial columns, they are executed in pine that has been painted in whites and grays to create a sense of Carrara marble. The overall form is Neoclassical with a bold cove molding around the top and an overall faceted and almost square column over a simple base molding in the footer. Powerful and intended for placement against a wall, as the back is left open. A very nice pair that would look positively brilliant with matched statuary or urns filled with flowers on top. England, circa the first quarter of the 20th century.
Measurements: 57 1/4" H x 22 1/2" D x 26 1/2" W
Condition Report:
Apparently original surface throughout, heavily worn and with blemishes; a nice overall patina; chipping and splitting to the wood in various places throughout - all of these can be easily repaired, though it looks quite natural in the worn aesthetic; very strong and stable; ready to place. -
