Description
Paolo Buffa Carved Oak Dining Table, circa 1940

The piece beautifully highlights Buffa’s transitional style, pulling together regional Italian craft traditions with structural elements that point forward to modernism. The beautifully carved and visually captivating scalloped apron is decorated with uniform carved openwork circular piercings, which support a large rectangular surface. The whole resting on thick, cross-shaped structural legs that flare outward slightly toward the base, combining architectural stability with elegant Neoclassic geometry for which Buffa was so well known. Th hand-carved stained oak, showcases a rich, deep-toned finish with prominent organic grain patterns across the rectangular tabletop.
