Description
Paul Kingma brutalist coffee table in stone and hammered metal. The rough look and feel of this table is a typical trademark of the Dutch sculptor, mosaic artist, painter and draftsman Paul Kingma. In the early 1960s he started making these types of heavy tables, using natural stone in combination with a robust frame. This frame consists of two continuous rectangular legs that protrude about four centimeters on either side of the top. Resulting in a kind of oversized effect, contributing to an even more robust appearance. The top is inlaid with seventeen different colors of slate enclosed in a metal frame. All stones vary in size to ultimately form a harmony with each other.A diffuse relief has been applied to the metal frame, which imitates the rough surface of the slate, as it were, making a subtle connection and transition between the two characteristic materials. The condition of this item is very good.
