Description
An exceptional example of Danish modern craftsmanship, by celebrated designers Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen showcases the refined simplicity and masterful construction that made their work internationally admired. Known for blending architectural precision with organic warmth, Hvidt and Mølgaard-Nielsen created furniture that feels both sculptural and effortlessly functional.
This stunning coffee table features a fully solid teak construction—including the top—an increasingly rare and highly desirable detail that sets it apart from veneer examples commonly found on the market. The rich old-growth teak displays beautiful grain movement, warm tones, and the depth of character only true vintage Danish teak can offer. This piece has been completely restored.
The clean-lined silhouette is elevated by elegant solid brass details that provide both visual contrast and a subtle sense of luxury. These brass accents highlight the craftsmanship of the joinery while adding a refined architectural element to the design. The combination of solid teak and brass creates a perfect balance of warmth and sophistication, making this table equally suited for minimalist interiors and richly layered spaces.
Its generous surface area makes it ideal as a centerpiece for a living room, while the timeless proportions allow it to pair beautifully with both Danish and American mid-century seating. Every angle reflects the thoughtful restraint and precision that define the best Scandinavian design.
At Hobbs Modern, we carefully restore each vintage Danish piece to preserve its originality while enhancing the natural beauty of the materials. This Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen coffee table is not simply a functional table—it is an investment in authentic design history and lasting craftsmanship. -
