Unique Mid-century Roger Thibier brass marble dining table 1970s
-
Description
Prominent mid-century modern designers Roger and Robert Thibier seems to have kept some of their most masterful work for themselves : This unique dining table, made from solid brass and white marble, was their personal creation, designed specifically to be used in their round dining room (see photograph) in their apartment at on Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré in Paris. It is number two out of ten pieces he designed in this style. The curving, gleaming brass feet and the creamy white marble top feel typical of French Neoclassical design, but the details make this piece truly unlike anything else. Each foot is a slender and graceful bird, ruffling up her feathers and then bending backward over her neck; the table’s feet taper into a rendering of an actual bird’s foot.
If desired as a set, two matching console tables from the same collection are currently up for sale. -
