Description
England UK c. 1745
Superb and Extremely Rare example of a finely carved circular snap top tripod table with the original bird cage support to the underside of the top which in turn has a delicate and expertly carved flower and bow edge. Very much in the Chippendale fashion and of the time - having slightly different " Punching " styleised carving to the base, suggesting the Irish influence. The quite overwhelming colour and patination make this a very special and highly collectible piece of 18th century Georgian piece of furniture. " From our sixty years of dealing the Chippendale Tripod Table has proved to be the most collectible and coveted item of English Mahogany Furniture.
Provenance
Superb private collection UK
Literature: At present after extensive searching this particular and individual model seems not to be recorded, substantiating its rarity of design. -
