Miguel Ortiz Berrocal

Spanish, 1933 - 2006
Miguel Ortiz Berrocal (1933-2006) was a Spanish sculptor known for his intricate, puzzle-like sculptures that could be taken apart and reassembled by the viewer. He was born in Villanueva de Algaidas, Spain and studied art in Valencia and Madrid.

Berrocal's sculptures were often made of bronze and consisted of multiple pieces that fit together like a puzzle. They were highly detailed and often depicted figures from mythology or famous historical figures. Berrocal's most famous sculpture was the "David," a bust of the biblical figure that consisted of 200 individual pieces.

Berrocal's work was widely exhibited throughout Europe and the United States, and his sculptures are now held in many prestigious art collections around the world.
