Etienne Allemeersch
Belgian
Étienne Allemeersch (1926–2002) was a Belgian chemist-turned-designer born in Ghent. After his chemistry studies in the 1950s, he became fascinated with emerging materials—most notably resin. He collaborated with inlay artist Ado Chale, producing striking resin furniture embellished with marble, bone, galalith, and semi-precious stones. Known for impeccable craftsmanship, Allemeersch’s mid-century pieces—tables, consoles, mirrors—are characterized by sleek resin surfaces and richly textured embedded materials. Maison Rapin features several of his works, including lapis‑lazuli and tiger’s‑eye coffee tables, bone‑inlay consoles, and slate furnishings, all highlighting the harmonious fusion of natural elements with modern design .
