Maison Jansen rare signed Directoire-style silver-leaf settee with antiqued finish and black raw silk upholstery, France, 1950s. Exceptionally elegant and beautifully proportioned, this sophisticated settee features a silver-leaf frame with a softly aged patina and luxurious black raw silk upholstery with a deeply tufted back, seat, and padded arms.

Rarely found with a documented mark, this example is stamped “JANSEN” on the underside and retains its original label reading “Monsieur Blum, 12 rue St. Nicolas, Paris.” The combination of the Jansen stamp and original period label adds significantly to its desirability and provenance.

A refined and highly decorative example of Maison Jansen’s interpretation of French Directoire design, combining neoclassical restraint with the glamorous materials and sophisticated craftsmanship for which the celebrated Parisian decorating house is renowned.
