Al Parker

American, 1906 - 1985
Al Parker (1906-1985) was an American artist and illustrator known for his contributions to the Golden Age of American illustration. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Parker studied at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles before moving to New York City in the 1930s.
 
Throughout his career, Parker's work appeared in numerous magazines, including Cosmopolitan, Ladies' Home Journal, and McCall's. He was particularly known for his fashion and advertising illustrations, which often featured stylish and glamorous women in elegant settings.
 
Parker's signature style was marked by his use of bold, bright colors and dynamic compositions. He often incorporated abstract shapes and patterns into his work, which helped to create a sense of movement and energy.
 
In addition to his commercial work, Parker was also a respected fine artist and exhibited his paintings and drawings in galleries throughout the United States. He received numerous awards for his contributions to the field of illustration, including the Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators in 1961.
 
Today, Parker is regarded as one of the most influential illustrators of the 20th century, and his work continues to inspire artists and designers around the world.
