Provenance: Possibly Charles Tillinghast (1729-1775), West Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island; Phebe (Tillinghast) James (1768-1848), daughter; General Charles Tillinghast James (1805-1862), son; Thence by descent in the family; Arthur B. Ladd (1868-1954) and his wife, Maude Lorie (Cross) Ladd (1874-1966), by 1953; Ralph E. Carpenter, Jr. received by gift from Mrs. Ladd, above, by 1957.
