French Mid-Century Modern Sculptural Perforated Enamel and Brass Chandelier
-
Description
This sophisticated and sculptural chandelier was realized in France, circa 1950. It features a cylindrical body painted in cream-hued enamel perforated with an abundance of holes of differing diameters that allows the light to softly diffuse into any room. From the cylindrical body, myriad curved bands emanate outwards (also painted in cream enamel secured to the body of the chandelier with polished brass bands. These bands lend the piece a sculptural presence, and a saucer-like silhouette that echoes similar forms explored elsewhere during this period by design luminaries such as Isamu Noguchi. The chandelier attaches to the ceiling via a cylindrical rod and domed canopy also in polished brass. With its clean modernist lines and beautiful craftsmanship, this fixture would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid-Century Modern to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent condition. The height can be adjusted to suit. France, circa 1950. Dimensions: 24" diameter x 28" height.
