Description
This remarkably beautiful Art Deco Sideboard in Bookmatched & Burled Amboyna Wood, Mahogany, & Walnut Base with Black Lacquer Detailing & Brass Fittings originates from France, Circa 1925. A monumental and stunningly made case piece, this sideboard features a classic early Art Deco form composed of sophisticated curves and rigorous attention to proportion and detailing, rendered in the highest quality materials blended and juxtaposed in stunning fashion. Resting on a curved plinth base rendered in bookmatched walnut with horizontal striations beautifully traversing the width of the piece, black lacquered rectilinear spaced detailing raises the body of the sideboard and provides for an excellent visual divide while providing a cohesive connection to the black lacquer detailing on the front edge and top serving platform of the sideboard. The center of the piece features ample storage, the top section opens downwards to reveal an interior with curvaceous interior shelving and an antique mirrored surface ideal for storing glasses or other items of frequent use. Beneath this section rest three beautifully curved drawer fronts with original brass fittings featuring fluted detailing and a vertical concave housing hugging the curve of each drawer. Either side of the cabinet has drawers that hug around for both the freedom of opening and a nested aesthetic quality. The entire front surface of the piece with the exception of the linear elements adorned in gleaming black lacquer is fabricated in a stunning Burled Ambonya wood, with incredible natural texturing and density. Each side is made of a stunning bookmatched mahogany with wide grains and vertically oriented grain, elevating the piece. Fitted with original keys in brass with lovely neoclassical detailing, a beautiful combination with the sleek and fresh curvilinear geometric sensibility of the cabinet. This cabinet will serve as a stunning and functional addition to those with an appreciation of the finest Art Deco design and construction, styling beautifully in a wide array of interiors and settings, from Art Deco to Mid-Century Modernist and Eclectic Interiors. In Mint Restored Condition.
