Description
A tall Victorian cast iron hall stand, or hall tree, English, circa 1870. Of impressive 60-inch height, the tapering standard cast throughout with Rococo Revival foliate scrollwork, fitted with pairs of scrolled hat-and-coat hooks over a central umbrella and stick loop, raised on a shaped drip-tray base with egg-and-dart border and scroll feet. Designed to be secured to the wall, retaining its original wall-mounting points. The upper structure in old black-painted surface; the base retaining an original, un-repainted oxidized surface consistent with age. A handsome and functional entryway piece of generous scale.
