Lucien Rollin Commode with Rosewood Marquetry and Red Marble Top, France, 1945

$ 21,000
  • Description
    This exceptionally rare commode was designed by Lucien Rollin and produced in France in November 1945. The commode consists of four drawers mounted with brushed metal escutcheons and circular protruding handles. The drawers are executed in a rosewood veneered marquetry laid in a geometric argyle pattern. Flanked by stylized pilasters, the piece is resting on square tapering legs with brass front feet. The substantial red variegated marble top with a slightly raised edge is of Italian origin.
    The chest of drawers is stamped and dated on the back side with "Lu Rollin 19.11.1945".
    The refined details, the exquisite materials and the elegant marquetry perfectly illustrate the high level of craftsmanship Lucien Rollin was known for.
