-
Description
This elegant Art Deco walnut, carpathian elm and black lacquer desk desk was realized in France circa 1930. Sitting on striated streamlined feet (suggesting a modern interpretation of the classic clawfoot) the desk, offers two tiers supported by volumetric rectangular legs finished in black lacquer. The bottom tier offers a rectangular form in walnut with burled carpathian elm diamond inlays, while the top tier (the writing surface) is composed of burled and bookmatched carpathian elm sitting skyscraper style atop a black lacquer apron with two drawers. The back of the piece offers streamlined compartments in bookmatched walnut with a streamlined black lacquer deck above. With its iconically Art Deco leitmotifs and materials, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of the period as well as those with a penchant for exquisite objects. It has been newly restored to mint condition.
