French Mid-Century Partial Gilt Wrought Iron Side /Desk Chair, Gilbert Poillerat
-
Description
Elegant French Mid-Century Modern Neoclassical form hand-hammered wrought iron chair for desk, vanity or lounge by Gilbert Poillerat, circa 1940, with the seat structure from a design by Andre Arbus.
The chair features a Classic Curule form (rounded X-form) leg supporting structure and X-form back structure. It sits on hand made gilt bronze sabots and gilt iron finials are used to finish the piece at the top. The chair is delicately hammered and chiselled and the patina is a soft natural black that plays off the gilt details. A small masterpiece of tasteful design and craftsmanship from Poillerat. -
