Ceramic Bowl with Metallic Glaze by Beatrice Wood
-
Description
A ceramic lusterware stemmed bowl by American artist and studio potter Beatrice Wood (11893-1998). The piece, circa 1980s, is covered in a brilliant golden hue luster glaze with metallic copper color swirl. Signed on the bottom "Beato".
Beatrice Wood was a multi-disciplinary artist and author. In her long life and career, she was known as Mama of Dada, an avant-garde artist, a potter, an author, and an inspiration. Her long career with pottery is distinguished by a signature style of in-glaze luster that draws the metallic salts to the surface of the glaze by starving the kiln of oxygen. -
