Description
Christian stained-glass window of Christ blessing children
Continental, early 20th Century
Frame: Height 112cm, width 95cm, depth 12cm
Window: Height 110cm, width 93.5cm, depth 0.5cm
The subject for this beautiful stained-glass window comes from Mark 10: Christ blesses young children which were brought to him while he preached. Christ is seated beneath a tree, with a trio of haloed figures behind him. A child sits on his lap, as two older children sit and stand by his side; a young woman carries a fourth child before him. The setting is verdant, with scattered buildings lining the close horizon. The glass is brilliantly coloured, with bright blues and greens predominating, accented by the red of Christ’s robe. -
