This early 20th-century mortar and pestle is made of brass with an honest patina. Both the mortar and pestle are traditional in style. The mortar has a bell-shaped body with a rounded base this style is known for, and the pestle has one round end. Brass mortar and pestles were used for both food and apothecary.
