Description
This pair of elegant table lamps was produced by Bergboms in Sweden during the 1960s. The design was created by Alf Svensson and Yngvar Sandström, both of whom were brilliant Swedish designers of the era.
These lamps have a classic, inherently elegant design that contemporary pieces still try to mimic. Like many of the decade’s designs, this duo of table lamps masterfully pairs materials and textures. As a result, the design has an essentially Nordic modern look thanks to its understated and elegant design choices. The main material comprising the base, the tube, and the socket is brass. The polished brass is the perfect material to showcase the curvature of the cone-shaped base, which serves as the stem for the thin, sleek tube. The texture of the lampshades’ fabric matches beautifully with the brass base, and allows these models to complement any style of interior. The acrylic harp houses the bulb which can be switched on and off by a pull cord. The shades have a so-called shallow drum style which allows the fabric to dominate the design. The fabric is quite textural, with an elegant and stylish look that stands out even more when the lamps are lit. These models are numbered B-024 and are marked on the bottom of the base by the manufacturer. Bergbom & Co AB, called Bergboms was founded in 1940 by the industrialist Efraim Ljung. Bergboms is best known today for their lamp designs.
Adding illumination to a living space with this pair of stylish table lamps will not only improve the ambience, it will also provide useful task lighting for those late nights. Apart from the aesthetics, the quality of these lamps is also true to their Swedish heritage and to that of Bergboms.
