Description
This elegant and sophisticated Mid Century Modern ceramic table lamp was realized in France, circa 1960. It features a tear drop form realized in a red oxide glaze that transitions in a sophisticated gradient to a slate at the flared neck. The top of the neck is capped with a patinated brass detail consisting of three concentric circular forms in relief of diminishing diameter as they move towards the center- testifying to the fact that no detail was overlooked in its construction. Additionally, there are circular holes hand carved out of the body of the lamp, some surrounded by etched tear drop forms that reiterate the shape of the piece in miniature. With its superlative craftsmanship and elevated organic modern sensibility, this piece looks as contemporary today as when it was created more than 70 years ago. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent vintage condition. The lamp comes fitted with a custom shade.
