Pair of Midcentury Bookends in Brass & Black Enamel by Carl Auböck #3848
-
Description
This stunning and graphic Mid-Century Modern reference #3848 bookends were realized by the prestigious and inimitable designer Carl Auböck in Austria circa 1960. They offer an amorphic assymetrical ovoid form propped up by a single support that extends downwards at a diagonal. The sides of the piece retain their original lustrous brass finish, while the the exterior and interior surfaces are finished in black enamel- creating a dramatic tonal and Material contrast. With their idiosyncratic and striking form and singular aesthetic, these pieces represent the Auböck's work at its finest. They would be a winning acquisition for any collector of highly collectible, first rate Mid-Century Modern design, as well as those with a penchant for all things exquisite. They are in excellent vintage condition.
