A lavish and intricately carved French 19th Century Napoleon III style giltwood oval mirror. This amazing mirror hand-crafted in France during the reign of Napoleon III has a highly decorative oval frame that is truly dazzling. Richly embellished with finely carved neoclassical designs, a circling egg and dart pattern, scrolling acanthus leaves, and floral motifs, the oval frame also showcases thick and remarkably intact giltwork. The antique mirror glass is in excellent condition and shimmers next to the rich patinated gold leaf finish throughout the frame. Small cracks in the wood can be seen on the interior of the frame.
