Description
Antique Collection Basket. Antique Chinese Woven Basket. Beautifully hand-woven large rattan and bamboo collection basket. Used to gather and hold fruits, apples, pears, pomegranates and gourds. This example exhibits a masters ablilty to weave reed into a utilitarian everyday basket with uncompromised aesthetic sensibility. Five oval flat reed large slats complete the detail on one side interwoven between the small round reed that encompasses the entire basket. The same five slats are only half visible to the other side as a detail. Durable, useable and beautiful, this basket is a wonderful piece for everyday use and or decorative placement. Having an organic natural raw quality to the color, texture and patina to the reed. This is a good size for display allowing the outstanding details of the weaving to be clearly visible.
