Description
This unique vanity mirror crafted from tin, mother-of-pearl, and amboyna burl is of French origin and dates back to the early 20th century. The ornamental motifs adorning the mirror, inspired by nature such as butterflies and climbing vegetation, are enhanced by the iridescence of the mother-of-pearl, further emphasizing the contrast between the tin and the amboyna burl, a precious wood often reserved for exceptional pieces. This piece serves as a perfect testament to the Art Nouveau movement that emerged in the late 19th century as a response to the increasing industrialization following the Second Industrial Revolution in Europe. This beautiful mirror has been fully restored, and is in very good condition.
