Seguso Viro Tall "Suez Echo" Vase Limited 101 Edition, Murano, 2010

$ 1,850
  • Description
    This tall, oval clear glass vase is hand-blown with orange-red glass canes as inclusions to form diamond-shaped abstract ribbon patterns. It is from one of the Limited 101 collections which Seguso Viro initiated in 2001. This vase is number 21 of 101. The Suez Echo line was sold out and is no longer in production. The styling theory of Seguso Viro is based on the Nature-Mankind connection, so this vase represents the actions of the Trade Winds causing these ribbons or sails to blow. The blowing ribbons echo the warm winds from the Mid-East as they course through the Mediterranean and over Italy. Seguso Viro is a company formed in Italy in 1993 by the son and three grandsons of Achimede Seguso (1909-1999), the 20th century master artist who descended in the family of continuous glassblowers in Venice since its beginning in 1397. Seguso Viro in 2007 reacquired Seguso Vetri d'Arte (formerly owned by branches of the families Seguso, Barovier, and Ferro, among others), and is now combined into one parent company as Seguso. The slight shelf scratches on the bottom of this piece are minor and normal. The vase retains its original paper label on the lower front, and is signed and numbered by etching on the bottom which reads: "Seguso Viro Murano 21/101 Aliseo". The vase is the Aliseo form in the Seguso Viro collections.
