Description
This exquisite Set of Twelve Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver Bamboo Pattern Charger/Dinner Plates originates from the United States, Circa 1970. This stunning set can serve as either charger or dinner plates. Octagonal in form, they feature a sculptural bamboo motif circumscribing the border of each plate, with beautifully detailed joinery and verisimilitude. Grooved detailing is depicted on each of the bamboo segments, beautifully resembling the natural detailing of the material and utilizing the remarkable sculptural quality of sterling silver. The sculptural bamboo border is raised, leading to a gently sloped plane that then descends with a precise beveled detailing into the circular basin of each plate. The finish is pristine, with a stunning profile when viewed from the side. One can observe carefully achieved curvatures in each segment and the wholistic impact of the design overall. These stunning creations from Tiffany and Company resonate a striking and elegant presence. Each plate weighs 728 grams (23.41 troy ounces) of sterling silver. Bears a stamped signature on the undersurface of each plate which reads: Tiffany Ny&Co Makers Sterling Silver 23997
Tiffany is the world’s undoubted leader in silver, and for a good reason. While Tiffany’s legacy of offering the finest silver jewelry, home objects and accessories is internationally recognized, the fact that Tiffany set the current American standard for sterling silver, 9.25 parts per 1,000 parts silver, is less known. Even more impressive, Tiffany has one of the largest group of silversmiths in the United States at its hollowware workshop. Now based in Rhode Island, and previously in New Jersey, it is at the workshop that Tiffany artisans have handcrafted a wide array of extraordinary sterling silver hollowware designs for over a century— solidifying Tiffany’s unique position as the purveyor of the world’s most exceptional sterling silver designs. -
