Description
A striking pair of wall sconces by Jean Perzel (1892–1986), the renowned French artisan and lighting designer celebrated for his exquisite Art Deco light fixtures, who trained originally as a sculptor before turning to lighting design. Working from his Paris atelier, Perzel became one of the preeminent names in French Art Deco lighting, prized for his sculptural forms and masterful use of glass to diffuse and direct light.
Each sconce takes a bold half-moon, or fan, silhouette, built up in two graduated tiers of frosted glass — a pale, cooler-toned outer arc set behind a warmer, honey-toned inner arc — that together create a soft, layered glow when illuminated. At the base, a half-round nickel-plated bronze support conceals the light source, its polished surface catching and reflecting the lamps' glow. The interplay between the matte, sandblasted glass and the gleaming nickel mount is characteristic of Perzel's refined material contrasts. - More Information
