PROJECT IN MADRID, SPAIN
This interior design project, brought to life by our studio and captured by the lens of Belén Imaz, graces the pages of Nuevo Estilo magazine. Nestled within a 1940s rationalist building in Madrid's prestigious Golden Mile, this residence underwent a complete transformation.
Our clients sought a departure from the traditional, rejecting historicist and Haussmannian architecture. We found the perfect canvas in this building, with its square, rectilinear spaces. However, the interior required meticulous work to restore its original character. Decades of renovations had left the space with a distinctly 90s feel, complete with multicolored walls and added moldings that created a faux historical ambiance.
Our design philosophy centered on honoring the building's modernist roots. We stripped away the extraneous additions, preserving only the original wooden flooring and a stained-glass window in the hall.
The result is a resounding success, perfectly attuned to the needs and lifestyle of its inhabitants. Spacious, white-walled rooms bathe in natural light, providing a gallery-like setting for exceptional art and furniture. Iconic pieces like Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin chairs, the Mackintosh chair, Gerrit Rietveld's Red and Blue chair, and Gaetano Pesce's Up5_6 armchair create focal points within the open layout.
This project celebrates color in all its richness and variety, paying homage to the great masters of 20th-century design while incorporating contemporary creations. The carefully curated selection of furniture, with pieces that blur the lines between art and design, creates a unique and personal space.
