French 19th Century Empire Mahogany Commode

Description
A substantial French Empire mahogany commode from the 19th century, circa 1850. Below a simple plank top, the apron houses a hidden drawer, free of hardware. To the left and right are massive columns in place of pilasters, emphasized with spherical capitals and solid, cylindrical bases to lift the case. Making up the body of the piece are three larger drawers that easily glide open using brass knobs; delicate escutcheons indicate the keyholes however no key is present. The drawer fronts showcase the unique variety of grain pattern of mahogany, underneath nearly two centuries of patina developed from time and use. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for your interior. Make sure to view the detailed images for a closer look at this great case piece.
