Description
This striking glass pendant was produced in Orrefors, Sweden, in the 1950s.
The design features a sandblasted glass shade in a matte, translucent frosted white color. The geometric, diagonally placed checkered pattern was cut out during the sandblasting process, leaving the pattern untouched while the surrounding frosted design was created. The pattern becomes even more emphasized when the light is on. This highlights the high level of craftsmanship characteristic of Orrefors production in the 1950s.
The lamp is suspended from a pendant holder, stem, and ceiling cup made of matte nickel-plated metal. The lamp is in very good original condition, with the metal showing a natural patina. The glass shows minimal signs of wear, with minor, natural imperfections from the production process.
The height of the stem and the drop down can be shortened if desired. Listed dimensions are the total dimensions of the shade and fixture combined. The glass shade itself has a diameter of 27 cm / 10.63 inches at the widest point and a height of 27 cm / 10.63 inches as well. -
