Description
In the 1940s, Swedish lighting designers created iconic works which combined elegant Art Deco shapes with modern Scandinavian functionality. Their commitment to quality craftsmanship and avant-garde design principles set them apart as pioneers in the industry. This innovative and timeless floor lamp model seamlessly blends tradition with modernity, reflecting the era's ethos.
Crafted with precision and aesthetic finesse, this floor lamp is a testimonial to Swedish ingenuity. The lamp's base utilises a classic tripod shape to ensure stability and durability. The brass body exudes sophistication, epitomising the 20th century design principles that sought to marry functionality with form and elegance. Perhaps the most unique elements of the design are the so-called goose-necks that hold the fabric shades. A goose-neck is a semi-rigid, flexible joining element made from a coiled metal hose. Similar to its natural counterpart, it can be bent in multiple direction and remain in that position, in this case, it allows the light to be focused in any direction. The flexibility of the neck adds an additional funtionality to the lamp's overall aesthetic, making it a versatile piece. The aesthetic dimension was also considered when crafting this piece, which is most evident in the shapes of the shades and circular brass detail. The unique, almost floral-like shades with their ruched fabric evoke a traditional, historical appeal while commanding attention with their charm.
This floor lamp stands as a prime example of the brilliance of Swedish lighting design during the 20th century. It encapsulates the spirit of an era that embraced both heritage and progress in the pursuit of timeless design.
