Description
It is simply impossible to talk about 20th century lighting design without mentioning Finland and the Finnish “masters of light”. Brass bent into flowing curves, glass shades, and subtle decorative elements characterise Finnish mid-century models, as showcased by this gorgeous "62046" floor lamp model.
This elegant, sculptural floor lamp is a distinctive piece exemplifying Mauri Almari’s artistic design language. The quality of the lamp is true to it's Finnish heritage; it is a testament to the era's emphasis on proportionality and aesthetic balance. The choice of materials and decorative elements reflects a commitment to both form and function, an ethos deeply ingrained in Finnish design philosophy. The most visually appealing aspect of this "62046" model are the three upward-facing milky glass shades which are placed at the end of the organically curved brass arms that stem from the sleek body. The glass, with its off-white translucence, evokes a sense of ethereal beauty and warmth, transforming any space into a haven of ambient illumination. Since the two materials dictate the look, much attention was paid to their quality and to the craftsmanship. Mauri Almari was one of the Finnish lighting masters that worked with milk or opal glass, and designs featuring the material are some of the country’s most sought-after pieces. This floor lamp becomes more and more charming with each moment spent on discovering its features, making it an ideal accent piece. Often, many people begin thinking about the overhead lighting and how it will serve the space - however, it's the freestanding lighting that plays the most pivotal role in getting it “just right”.
Manufactured at Idman, this model is perfect to add a touch of elegance to any space without being overwhelming. Its expert craftsmanship and unique character make it a timeless evidence of the golden age of mid-century Finnish lighting design.
