Antique Turquoise, Diamond and Pearl Snake Bracelet

$ 34,500
  • Description
    Created in the mid-19th century, this antique turquoise, diamond and seed pearl snake bracelet is set in gold. The tapering naturalistic form composed of bombé links is pavé-set with cabochon turquoise, with patterning of split seed pearls, and the head highlighted by rose-cut diamonds. A beloved form of the Victorian era, this colorful, slinky snake combines refined antique workmanship with modern appeal.

    Dimensions: 6.75" interior circumference
    Materials: Cabochon turquoise; split seed pearls; rose-cut diamonds (approximate total weight 0.60 carat); 14K and 9K Gold
    Gram Weight: 79.4 g.

    Symbolically important in ancient cultures, from Egypt, to India, to Greek and Roman and even Norse cultures, the motif of the serpent devouring its own tail, or ouroboros, represents the eternal cycles of nature, life and rebirth, and the unity of opposing forces. In modern times, it has also served to signify sustainability.
