Pair of French Modern Neoclassical Gilt Iron Floor Lamps, Gilbert Poillerat 1940
-
Description
A Rare, Custom Pair of French Mid-Century Modern Neoclassical Partial Gilt Iron Floor Lamps in the style of Gilbert Poillerat circa 1937 - 1940. These authentic, commissioned pair of French hammered wrought iron standing lamps possesses a dignity and charisma that is historic, timeless, yet contemporary. The hand made central ring is its dramatic focus and its patinated iron is cutout with the image of Gothic crosses. This centers the piece aesthetically and symbolically. The patina is naturally aged into a soft, warm, comforting feeling. These lamps convey a sense of place; they convey 'this is a home", rooted in history, but looking to the future. Dimensions without shades: H 67 x D 15” (Base), and 9”diameter of the central ring. The pieces are designed to accommodate shades which can fit over the candle portion of stem so the total height with shades can range between 68" to 72".
