Description
This pair of sculptural table lamps was designed in Italy by a little-known company named Alfredo Bianchi. As design pieces, they represent an organic mix of aesthetics and functionality.
The lamps feature a dramatic, sculpted form that blurs the line between functional lighting and art. The pair captures the spirit of 1970s Italian design, where experimentation with form, material, and silhouette was central to the creative process. The lamps’ shape is both commanding and refined, with a strong visual presence that will make them a focal point in any interior. The geometrical form is created from a single circular tube that is skillfully made of cast aluminium and finished with a black lacquer. On the end of the cylindrical tube is the cleverly integrated light source casting a soft ambient glow that highlights the form without overwhelming it. Whether viewed from the front or the side, the design offers dynamic perspectives. The black colour of the lamp balances the unique shape, by allowing the silhouette to shine without overpowering it or visually disturbing the organic flow of the curves.
These lamps are a testament to Alfredo Bianchi’s ability to merge function with sculptural integrity. Adding illumination to a living space with these table lamps will not only improve the ambience, it will also bring a piece of design history to the space. Apart from the aesthetics, the quality of this model is also true to its Italian heritage.
