Exceedingly Rare Yellow Gunilla Jung Table Lamp Model 2004, Orno 1930s
-
Description
This is an exceedingly rare version of the Gunilla Jung table lamp designed in 1936-37 for Orno and exhibited at the 1937 Paris world exposition.
This fine example is believed to be a unique version of this lamp due to the strickingly beautiful color combination of a yellow shade and a black stained birch stem that compliments the chromed brass surface of the body.
It is in beautiful vintage condition. The lamp is an "untouchable" version with its original electric wiring. A collector's holy grail of Jung's design and a design lover's gem.
Gunilla Jung drafted this model at the same time she designed the lighting for the iconic Savoy theater in Helsinki, making it the lamp that paved the way to a timeless trend in brass lighting. Today, over 80 years later, that trend is still strong.
This lamp was in production for a short period of time in the late 1930's. It is rare partly due to the formidable and high production costs back then as well as the outbreak of the 2nd World War. It is one of the most luxurious lamps of it's time (According to the Orno 1939 catalogue and the price list modification in November 1939).
This lamp retains all original parts. -
