French 19th Century Gold Gilt Louis Philippe Mirror
-
Description
Dimensions: 46 ¾” H x 32 ¾” W x 1 ⅝” D
A French, 19th century Louis Philippe mirror with lightly carved trellised design and beaded texture surrounding the gold gilt frame that has become more defined where the gilding has subsided to the red bole underneath. Look closely at the bottom corners and a subtle foliate pattern emerges, softening the geometry of the crosshatched design. Mirror glass is likely a modern replacement without the expected foxing or crystallization but still right at home in a range of transitional to traditional decorating tastes.
